Seeing as FSE has been closed for new accounts for around a year or so with no signs of letting up, what are some alternatives that you all would recommend? I’m kinda eager to run cargoes around and add another layer to my play, my world tour is getting rekt by time zone problems. Thanks

2022.01.26 15:23 AmoebaPillow Any way to add weight to a 3D printed ring?
My brother is making 3D printed rings that can roll like a barrel but they're very light- is there any way to add weight to them? I've read about adding lead or steel ball bearings but the ring is shaped like a thin but wider ring so idk if there are any other options... maybe stopping it halfway and adding a metal circlular ring to it? Is that a thing? Thanks

Some may say that I'm weird for my preferences but I like tall buff women. I feel like they would help you on a journey to being healthier and would act like a mommy at times when you need it the most. You can skip this post if you want I just wanted to voice my i opinion on this.

2022.01.26 15:23 Dxv23738 Would me and my 15-year-old daughter visit her mom who will be in jail for 7 months for check fraud be a bad idea even if they have a good relationship since then she will see the inside of a jail and prisoners?
Not to mention her mom in a jumpsuit. My daughter would like to go and seems enthusiastic and my wife says bring her if she wants but I’m not sure Actually my daughter does not seem scared but instead seems excited and enthusiastic to visit. This is strange to me. Do you find this normal? My daughter seems to find the idea of her mom having to wearing a uniform, sharing a room funny. I wonder why she would think it is funny. My wife says bring her if she would like to and my daughter says she would like to but I don't know if it is a good idea. She hasn't gone yet so we can still discuss it together. Never been to a prison before.

The "must have been a Navy pilot!" joke that people feel compelled to make after a firm landing is pretty cliche. I've flown with several ex-Navy pilots and they don't try to land like this in airliners.

2022.01.26 15:23 OceanGuy1995 My Perspective On Disney's Snow White Reboot's Controversy
The whole "trying to be progressive" crap is getting so old it's ridiculous. It's old news at this point but yeah, Snow White is no longer gonna be Snow White. Her skin won't be as white as snow, she's gonna have a darker skin color. There's nothing wrong with this typically, except they decide to do this with a fictional character who has been described to have skin WHITE AS SNOW, in other words more milkier looking than Jacksepticeye describes himself to be. So from there it's just gonna be that one blemish on the retelling of the classic story people loved for many generations...... until another blemish formed.
That's right, after hearing the dwarfs would still be dwarfs, it has offended actor Peter Dinklage and claiming that the Disney studio is being hypocritical with their "progressive" talk. In some sense, he is right. HOWEVER, dwarfs are just dwarfs. We're not talking about actual short people, we are talking about fantasy beings. Should old people be offended by wizards because they're old? No. Should Irish people be offended by leprechauns? No. Should women and feminine men be offended by elves? No. Why is that? Because wizards, elves, and leprechauns are fantasy beings and dwarfs are the same case at those examples. And you know, no one ever complained about The Hobbit trilogy from a decade ago and how Hobbits and dwarfs were short in the retelling of the classic story. So why should dwarfs be ignored for the retelling of the Snow White? Because now the movie is more doomed than it was since Snow White was announced to be played by a person of darker skin color.
I get not everybody is gonna agree with me either way, but at the end of the day, classic stories should just be told how we all know them to be. And you know if Disney really wants to be progressive, why don't they adapt old stories from other countries that are popular where they were written, whether it's South America, India, etc. etc. rather than strip classic stories of what makes them lovable and unique? This is just my thought on the topic here.

2022.01.26 15:23 Col_Korn22 LPT: The next time someone asks what you like to do on your spare time, you should know the honest answer.
This does not mean you always have to share the answer with anyone who asks, for obvious reasons.
It is still valuable to do honest self-reflection about that question, because not everyone knows what they like to do with their spare time.
Some people erroneously think their hobbies have not changed in years.
"I like playing basketball," says a 30-year-old who last touched a basketball in high school.
Other people bought expensive equipment for a hobby they thought would be interesting. Now that equipment is collecting dust, but its owner does not want to admit they think it's boring.
"I just got a new DJ set that I'm playing around with," says someone who bought a DJ set in March 2020, tried using it for a week, and never touched it again.
It's a lot easier to be happy when you know what makes you happy. So this might be helpful to think about.

2022.01.26 15:23 Kiwibertc Won't fix the ramp, but give me the ability to close it? Ok then.
TL;DR Used the companies health and safety rules against them to make them spend $7000 fixing a ramp they really didn't want to fix.
A bit of a long read, but there's a bit of context.
A few years ago I ended up working at a remote worksite. The crew I worked with had multiple jobs, one of which was unloading the truck that came in once a week with all of the sites food.
The unloading area was at the back of the kitchen and hadn't been designed well originally. It was an uneven gravel ramp that lead up to a roughly 4 ft loading dock. In an ideal world the truck would be able to back up to the loading dock and the job would be reasonably easy. However the ramp also wasn't very wide, there was a dogleg in the run up to it, and also the truck would be at an angle so moving the pallets of food would be tough.
So the work around was to have a forklift take the food from the truck, drive up the gravel ramp, and drop the food on the dock.
When I first got there we had a forklift operator who had worked with a forklift for years. He was good...like really good. He made it seem easy. This wasn't my first job working around forklifts, and I really appreciated how good this guy was. I'm not sure many others (especially management) realised that he made this short but tricky run in the forklift look way easier than it actually was.
He left, and management scrambled to get another guy licensed to drive the forklift. This guy didn't have the experience, and he struggled. He lost a load off his forks at one point, and it was kinda scary. He was a 'Yes" man, and there wasn't many other options, so he persevered. A lot of us were worried it was just a matter of time before he tipped the forklift over the edge of the ramp.
The solution would have been to redesign the ramp, or at least pave it. The gravel was a large part of the problem, it was a little thick, so the tires would spin, a bit off kilter, and it would develop potholes. The forklift needed to get a run up to carry speed up this ramp, that's had bad it was.
We complained, but the company didn't want to do anything because they were building a new kitchen on the other side of the camp, so this one was going to be decommissioned. However there had been zero work done on the new kitchen in the 3-4 months I'd been there.
This remote site was in Australia, and they have some pretty strict health and safety laws there. Companies will often have you fill out cards everyday of what we saw that was maybe dangerous. I filled out one for this ramp every single week we had to use it. But they didn't do anything. The system was really there to cover themselves. Ie "you knew it was dangerous, it says it here on the card, so why did you keep doing the thing?" while also expecting us to keep doing the thing (how else were we going to get the food inside).
However one of the other rules pretty much gave the right for any employer to "Tag Out" something that isn't safe. The company can't overrule this, as if they do then something happens, it's on them. These tags are normally used with machinery. Ie the machine is broken, can't be used until it's fixed. The tag out system is not really designed for an area.
Cue Malicious Compliance. The ramp is broken/dangerous. I decided I'm going to tag it out.
I collected some cones and ropes, and tagged it out. Went straight into the office to tell management what I did. Their faces were priceless. They had a week to come up with a solution as I did this immediately after we'd unloaded the weekly food drop.
At first they told us that from now on we'd have to walk the boxes of food up to the storage areas. (This was obviously an attempt to turn the other crew members on me). However the cooks stopped that idea dead. The weather was hot, the majority of the food was chilled or frozen, we were only so many, there would have been a lot of food waste.
So after a day or so they got to work putting in a paved path for the forklift. It was the bare minimum they would do (because they were "building" a new kitchen) but apparently it cost them $7000, and pulled guys away from other duties to do it.
Needless to say I was not a popular person, and I heard that some of management wanted to fire me, but there wasn't anything they could do.
I left two months later anyway.
